Amazing - i don't care if Parker, Coltrane or anyone else is better. This is really good. Can't we just appreciate the music? I remember Rollins talking about, that the press and the fans always set these giants up against each other. Their goal is to create music, not to compete. Enjoy the music!

I was at this gig and it feels like it was just a few weeks ago - not 26 years!!! The greatest performance I ever heard Sonny play was at the astrolabe in Ottawa when his opening calypso lasted about fifteeen minutes - the only music I have ever heard that got me airborne and made me feel like I was flying - just the most incredible aesthetic rush - and I wasn't on anything - so thank you for the music, Sonny, and the memories!

agree with you that comparing is foolish, but have to correct you, trane played with feeling and INTENSITY. for example just watch that perspiration wash through his face on My Favorite Things. For deep emotional ballads check out his "Ballads" album.
