Good observations. Ann and Nancy Wilson are from Seattle. Very influential in rock and also no doubt influenced grunge bands that emerged here.
Ann Wilson has one of the greatest voices around... U are right, she has this ability to control her emotion and power :)
Seattle is home of Grunge movement (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains).

Maybe it's cause I'm not a woman, but Whitney's about the only one that I know of, I can tolerate doing those screeches, though barely. :0

Celine Dion covering this classic. Nauseating thought, but not surprising, from the "queen of covers". The worst is when Dion screeches in her covers, as if she was one of those black divas ( Whitney Houston for instance ).
Only one other female artist does worse with covers, and that is Madonna.

Prolly cause they don't do that obnoxious "look how long I can hold this high note" thing. Celine is talented, but she has alot of annoying singing habits imo, which Ann can keep under control.

I never noticed but this song is built kind of like the grunge method: slow, aggressive chorus, slow, aggressive chorus, solo, slow, aggressive. Did the song writers create the grunge movement? :0

Wooooaaa, my faith hath been abandonned in the rain. I feel like poetic flame with no wick to hold onto. Take me under thine wing, oh Lord I cannot see, and give me a taste of heaven. Put wings on my back, and infinite love in this hungry heart. The beautiful faith that hath survived a thousand gales is all I have to offer...None hath sheltered this fire that still burns...Oh my god, don't leave me alone to dwindle in the dark of night.

heart needs to replace the opening piano keys with electric guitar and stop doing acoustic versions of this song which they have been doing since at least 1996. it old and boring. |
