Hi thepurpleshoew, the palatal stop is similar to a glottal stop, which is the kind of sound or sensation you experience when you gulp (where the soft palate, the spongy bit at the top and back of your throat, meets the the throat), but placed higher in the mouth - closer to the hard palate and not so much in the throat. Everything else you said pretty much sums it up! :) Oh and slightly off topic... her piano looks like chocolate and licorice, and I want to eat it!
