I do.He (Brecker) had a nice sound as well as the attributes I stated above but he still played those patterns and that's not really "improvisation" in my book...impressive technical facility too but not my cup of jazz

Michael Brecker (rip) had great technical facility but he didn't really "improvise" he played harmonic patterns.He was capable of great expressiveness with these but they were still patterns.
This is improvisation.

Marsh's harmonic vocabulary is just fine, thank you very much. Brecker's a major talent, so I don't see much point in using one cat's playing to diss another cat's playing. They did what they did. Marsh is a monster.
