No, but flamenco style is very influential in the traditional music of the Southern states, particularly Texas and Louisiana...very strong Gypsy influences here...BB King studied Django Reihardt... Clark doesn't claim to be classical, either, but tune in his performace with the Moscow orchestra...the man can do it all!

I don't think Roy Clark ever claimed to be a flamenco. This remains a very influential and accomplished piece of 12 string work.

Hey, know it all, Malaguena is a Gypsy (Roma)piece and is about the lady of Malaga (in Spain and center of Roma culture)For anyone who may be interested, there is out there somewhere a wonderful performance of Carlos Montoya playing for the Gypsy-Flamenco dancer, La Argentina. Even though I was lucky enough to sit front-row center for a performance by the master of Roma guitar, Montoya, I still have to say that Roy Clark's is the finest I've ever heard short of my Uncle Ralph's

A couple of comments: That fat boy sure can play! 2: Such intensity of expression 3: Video quality could have been better 4: He plays other instruments as well.
Well done Roy Clark! Bravo!

He is an expert, one of the finest, technically amazing but the showiness seems to overwhelm the soul of this simple Spanish tune. He is incredibly gifted on guitar and banjo.
