At first they start dancing a cross between the lindy and the west coast swing, then they embrace and do an old style foxtrot or what is called 'blues' in some places...just thought you might want to know

In 1997 I was 14 years old, saw this movie and fell in love with Kim Novak. After so many years, what a sensation to see again this scene. miro43

I read somewhere that Novak & Holden didn't get along off camera but that's irrelevant as long as the chemistry comes through in the movie & it did! Didn't think "Picnic" was that great but this is one of my favorite scenes in any movie. You can just feel the sexiness. Why does Hollywood seem to think that vulgar, crude movies with nudity are sexy? No one knows how to use their imaginations anymore. I like what CAN'T be seen, only imagined. And William Holden was hot!

Where does all this Steve Allen stuff come from? George Duning composed the love theme from Picnic and Moonglow was by Hudson, DeLange & Mills

In 1956, women all across America saw this film and wished that they could dance in the moonlight with William Holden.
