I happened to catch this on PBS and was surprised by the topics discussed for the time period in a 'lay it on the table' format. It's still timely if you ask me.

I liked how PBS would promote it in commercials as being "long before Sex and the City there was Company. The show has been off the air for four years now.

Haha, part 2 of my post:
Some possibly had to pick up an additional instrument(s) (some play up to 3), while at least one didn't know how to play to begin with (Raul Esparza/Bobby learnt the piano for the show, and I think Barbara Walsh/Joanne was taught the orchestra bells).
They all are certainly talented.

Most of them already had musical talent and have kept up with their instruments while being actors (Kristin Huffman/Sarah was a flute and voice major, Keith Buterbaugh/Harry was a brass major, Fred Rose/David studied cello in school and both he and Leenya Rideout/Jenny (who plays violin) played their instruments and acted in the 'Cabaret' revival, Amy Justman/Susan has played piano since age 3, Matt Castle/Peter used his piano talents from being a musicl director, etc.)

Are the actors actually playing their instruments? If so, were they already musicians or were they trained? The cast is so talented!

Raul Esparza always makes me smile. Throughout the entire performance, his facial expressions and (ofcourse) spectacular voice make Company so amazing.
I've loved the show since I got my hands on the original cast recording when I was 8 (15 now) and the revival is even more heartwarming.
Raul deserved a Tony for his portrayl of Bobby.
THANK YOU, PBS FOR SHARING THE MAGIC WITH EVERYONE!
--will we be fortunate to see it again?

I caught this on tonight but missed half of it, and had to leave before I caught the end. It was amazing, I love it. Most definitely will buy this! |
