i don't think their 11 year age difference had anything to do with their split. sonny's last wife mary was almost 27 years younger than him, and cher has since dated men who are 20 years younger than her.

Cher's eulogy to Sonny was as heartfelt as any ever given by a former or current spouse. Despite her talent, she may well have not broken into the business w/o Sonny, who was already connected to Phil Spector. Chalk it up to the stress of the music/show business and perhaps their age difference of 11 years. Cher had to break away to be her own woman, and she stayed longer with Sonny than anyone else. They may well have loved each other long after they parted.

actually they were very close. they still had their variety show for 2 more years after they divorced. they had an on-and-off type of friendship. search sonny and cher on letterman on youtube, they seemed like they were still friends. plus cher gave a long speech at his funeral.

yeah alot of ppl think that they were still married when he died. but they divorced in 1975 but still had this show for a few years after they split. sonny has 2 kids with his last wife mary.

um yeah well im not the entire public you idiot im only 17 i know about sonny and cher doesnt mean i tracked their whole life so yeah i thought that because i didnt know so dont be acting all high and mighty cause "i know everything about cher and sonny cause i probably grew up around them" unlike me

What are you talking about? The entire public knows that Sonny & Cher split up in 1974 (27 years before Sonny's tragic accident). After which, Sonny got married two more times. Cher was Sonny's second wife; and he was married to wife #4 when he passed away.
