If Pittsburgh is anything like the Altoona area then no wonder nothing really happened unless you add Bret Michaels. There are a lot of good bands around but here they all sound them same. Hard Rock or Metal. Nothing that resembles pop music the most could identify with.

Yes, that is correct.

If memory serves me correctly, Wasn't Donnie Iris a member of the Group "Wild Cherry" in the mid, Late 70's

By the way, does anyone know who the woman in this video was/is? Donnie's wife or girlfriend at the time, maybe?

My theory was that Pittsburgh as a city and as a region went completely into the toilet economically at almost exactly the same time that its pop music scene would otherwise have been hitting its stride. The bottom fell out at the worst possible time, in other words. Too bad, we'll never know what might have been, and of course the city has never again come close to producing any nationally prominent pop acts (though there's always Dennis Miller, Michael Keaton and a few other actors).

Without question, this is one of the great power pop songs of all time. It's also arguably the most famous rock song ever recorded by a native Pittsburgher. I always wondered why Pittsburgh never seemed to produce a true national music act. Donnie Iris came close, both as a solo artist and with a couple of bands he played in, and of course George Benson had a couple of big hits back in the day. B. E. Taylor looked like he was going to break through but never really did.

This song will FOREVER be in my memory because during the time this song was a hit I was getting ready to get out of the Army after 4 arduous years. Nicely done song. It's interesting how a song can take you back to a point and time in your life. I hear this song, and I'm transported!!!

Yeah he's got the Orbison thing down...Sings about a girl named LEAH, wears the Shades and goes for the high Falsetto's at the end of the song..big ending there for sure!

Ahh the innocent age of music videos. Please transport me back there.
