If you paste a new image on to an existing one in PS a new layer is automatically created on top of the old one. You can change the order in the layers list menu.

you first select the layer, then drag it up or down, depending on where you place it, the image will look different. to add a pic to a layer, first make a new layer, make sure it is selected, then go to file>Place>browse your image>Enter!

when I insert a new layer it dosn't show up any color even after I have assigned the color and hid the orignal image
