Obama is catching heat for his appointments already. Democrats are upset Obama is selecting Clinton retreads. Who do you think knows where all the dirty laundry is? Obama needs Clinton to help him COVER UP this mess. Yes, let the cover up begin, tie a bow on it and call it CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN

If you present both parties, you are not presuming that republicans and democrats represent both sides, and saying such a thing is a cop-out. How is the word "biased" have a right-wing bias? Stop trying to avoid the fact that you have a bias, whether you want to admit it or not.

Obama, you said it was a good idea to force banks to give risky loans, but regognize that it caused the financial crisis. If it cause the financial crisis then it wasnt a good idea, you just thought it was.

Hey Madehero:
Calling my views biased is a discussion. You could call it metacommentary, if anything. But ok. Let me put it another way. I think it's ok to criticize the repubs independently from the democrats. To say otherwise is to presume that the repubs and democrats always represent both and all sides of any issue. Second, it sounds like you're saying "if it's broke, don't fix it." Last, the word "biased" has a right-wing bias to it. Who uses it? Talk to you soon.

I never said that free-trade was the same thing as a free-market. I mentioned that free-trade is a basis of our free-market, which is true. However, free-trade and free-market have similar concepts. I know that essentially both have different ideologies, but the general concepts of the two are quite similar. Are you sure you actually "grasp the issue at hand?"

Power:
I haven't really "represented" either side. I pointed out mistakes you made in one of your comments, and that is all. Mentioning liberalization is not showing bias. However, focusing on the flaws of one party and claiming that your part is better than another is being bias. You can't claim that I'm avoiding a discussion because we weren't actually having a discussion when I first mentioned your biased views.
Powerfulhound (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I don't think that you represent every side of the issue either. That's why I think it's a bit foolish to speak about someone else's bias. People that use it usually like to avoid a discussion of a topic, and instead claim some kind of privileged position from which they can referee what counts as objective and what counts as subjective knowledge. It's a conceit, or argumentative fallacy. It's for Bill O and teenagers. You're very clever.

There's a difference between free-trade and free-market ideology -- and the difference is political. Thank you for demonstrating that you don't actually grasp the issue at hand.

The sad part of this mess is Republicans who resisted these changes are labeled racists and now it has destroyed the financial system Republicans are blamed because the current President is a Republican and there was a Republican controlled congress for 6 of the last 8 years.
However, the intent should not be to assign blame but to structure a reasonable system where people who are higher risk can get loans without risking a financial collapse. Assuming the USA survives this current mess. |
