How to field strip an SKS / Disassembly of an SKS

I decided to make this video when I saw no one on YouTube (that I could find) had posted a how-to on the tear down and reassembly of the venerable Siminov SKS Carbine. I think I messed up in the very beginning by calling the receiver cover the magazine cover, but I uttered a correction under my breath (to my defense, hehe) I hope this video is informative to my fellow gun enthusiasts. Dico tibi verum libertas optima rerum Nunquam servili sub nexu vivto, fili!

True with one exception. Tapco20 magazines don't cause problems. It requires removing some of the wood inside the magazine well due to being designed for use with the Tapco Fusion Stock. However, by adding a few other US parts it can be 922R compliant with the Tapco20 in the factory stock. The Tapco magazines "DO NOT" cause jams at all like the other after markets ones do. Murray's Guns makes US triggers and sears for SKS to help in the US compliance parts count so a high cap mag be used.

Hey nice job! A friend showed me how to take mine down but you showed me much farther and easier way of doing it. Thanks

Great instructive video. I have a field manual on tearing down my SKS but it's sorely lacking in detail. Your video makes it easy. Thanks for helping us SKS owners to be able to field strip our weapons using an easy to watch video example.

Thanks a lot for making this. A visual aid is very useful.

You would have to mess with the trigger mechanism (Be careful if you ever have to disassemble it). Semi-autos usually have two sears, one that releases the hammer or striker, and one that disengages the trigger after the bolt comes back. I wouldn't try it either. It is illegal and a waste of ammo.

I got the chinese Norinco version of that gun, same teardown principle, once I lift up that lever to pull the gas chamber assembly off, I can get the lever up, and the chamber wont pull off as it should, is it just really stuck or was there something else I didnt catch, ive already got the receiver off?
