This is 76mm or so... hmm... ok.. good old RPG-7 has 105mm (warhead). This is just a tech demonstrator, may be useful in the future but not now. I dont think that anyone would change existing shoulder launched weapons for this. The idea was probably to fire from closed positions avoiding the backblast, but that has been "fixed" in other ways.

its damn near a portable tank round
CommanderCody88 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
its not necessarily a mortar round, it could very well be an anti tank round or simple grenade...but as Rastak points out..grenade/rocket launchers do the same, even though this is A LOT bigger caliber.

there is always an ethical issue when making these devices...but mainly we care most about the new technology we develop...not everybody is capable of working in this business...bcos of the fact that what u are making will kill a lot of ppl...I dont know if I could...nowadays weapons arent soulely made with the intention to kill, but also to see if its possible to build..and thats what most scientist would want to know ...

grenade/rocket launchers exist for that purpose for over 60 years. This is just another waste of money. The idea is good, but useless.

you can now fire a huge mortar from a shoulder mounted system, that normally would require a large and bulky system.
Rastakzzz2 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
what a waste of money lol. whats the use of that? sell to enemy so they kill themselves?

oh yes - Commander Cody - a prime example of humans who are of superior social development. The 'technicians' of weaponry, those who are making profit at the art of killing other people. Come on man, what high horse are you on? |
