The Church are still making great music and their critical acclaim is widespread. They're just not a commercial band and I think they are quite happy that way.
Comparing Duran Duran with The Church is really comparing apples with oranges.

I'm not familiar with these songs but Reptile was recorded by The Church in 1987 and released on their album, Starfish in February 1988.

I'm a much better bassist than guitarist (only occasionally played rhythm guitar in the bands I played in) so I don't dream of owning many guitars. But I agree about the Rickenbacker played by Marty. Of course my holy grail as far as guitars go is the cherry-sunburst Rickenbacker Tom Petty is sporting on the cover of Damn The Torpedoes. I would hang that on my wall and just stare at it. |
