Definitely one of THE songs of the eighties. Didn't realise George Michael didn't write it. I think they said at the time that it took him a while to convince her to record it with him. But it is so Aretha that you'd think it was surely written for her to sing. Now if only her silly niece would only get her act cleaned up. There's no doubt that Whitney Houston is the natural successor to Aretha. They talk about the newer female voices but Houston was and hopefully still is the best by far.

1987? I couldn't sworn this was 86! But this is as 80's as it gets.

Miss. Franklin, the legend...and George seems too young to call him a legend, but he is...so, my thanks to them both for many, many years of fantastic entertainment.

I echo all of the comments below. George held his head up to the greatest singer song writer of all time. Aretha Franklin. This song is a classic. Its twenty years ago since I first heard this song and I thought WOW!!! I still do. Sends shivers down my spine now. Wonderful and yes written by Sinom Climie!!!!! Inspirational song!!!!!! Love it!!!! |
