could have been better ...you should have stayed in the rest pose for a couple of minutes to allow your circulation to

the strength part of raising your legs comes from your hamstrings and glutes but rather than focus too much on that i usually focus on my center of gravity after i have my hips over my shoulders. if you push your hips forward slightly it should feel natural to raise your legs in compensation to keep balance. hope this helps.
