Leonard Bernstein not only was of Jewish descent, but he also composed a great and wonderful Mass himself. I am very grateful for being able to listen to this recording as it must be one on Bernstein's last performances before his death which took him in fall 1990.

Thats from Mozart and it's inndeed related to the catholic liturgy. Nowadays, it is a concert piece, performed so many times in concert venues all over the world.

i notice they're not using hymnbooks..it's all memorized..this must be well-known in the Catholic Church. i never heard it till i heard it here..i then ordered it and played it for our communion service..lovely work of art.

Thank goodness for Mozart and the other masters through the ages who have given us a glint of the divine. No one can dictate how we experience such beauty. It has very little to do with ones religion. It is a much more profound experience than doctrine.

He was indeed a great man that helped me to grow in all dimensions (he died in Jan/12/2007, 82 years old). The Catholic Church is losing rapidly its universal dimension due to large thousands of intolerant people like this jitspring.

Thanks, Peter. Your priest sounds like a very wise man. Who ever would have thought that a beautiful piece of music such as this would result in someone revealing his intolerance of people who have different beliefs than his. |
