Installed cost depends on where you install the turbine. Offshore costs up to twice as much as on land. However, winds are steadier offshore, so the capacity factor can be about twice as high as on land. The big wind turbines cost more than a million dollars apiece, but the bigger ones have a lower cost per watt produced. Wind power has become more economical as the wind turbines have gotten larger.
