Not only did the different and even darker video I believed played a factor in David's career beginning to end here with this song. But I distinctly remember that the single was released in America only months after 9/11, which I'm sure did not help at all. I think 9/11 completely stopped David's career cold here. The mood of the country changed considerably and plenty of performers who were big at the time here largely got lost in the shuffle of the country's "new mood". Still sad.

This video was probably one of the worst concepts ever conceived. What was the American record company thinking with this?! What was wrong with the original video, was it because it was not black or street enough for Americans. It just shows just how shortsighted his American handlers were. I truly believe this video was one of the big factors into how David's career completely cratered in the U.S. after the debut album.
