Slim was the very first Artist I seen live in Dublin 1955. It was also the first time we seen a Steel Guitar and what a sound. The week before he was on it was Johnny Ray for him it was all women crowd but Slim appealed to everyone and the strrets were packed.

I love this man, I was to young to see him in concert when he came to England, but I would travel anywhere to see him sing. Is there any chance he will do a concert again, either here or in the States. There is no one to touch him. Are there any videos available of his concerts (region 2) Liz

Nashville doesn't have but a very few "country artist" doing real country music. All they care about anymore is Money!! It's not about the music anymore, it's all about the money!! Slim has stayed true to the music and I admire him for that.

This was Slims one and only appearance and the Wembley festival in 1984. I'm told he sang 15 songs in total. I love Slim but his voice was a little hoarse on this song - I suppose it's bound to happen occasionally and especially coming from a warm climate in Florida to a cold damp one, here in the U.K. Slim also appeared rather unexpectedly at the Morecombe Country Music Festival, in the late 80's or early 90s

Slim Whitman would like to clear something up: He's alive and doing pretty well despite reports of his death on Monday. "All of a sudden on Sunday, Jan. 20, I died," said Whitman, who turned 84 on Sunday. "I knew it was a lie. I kept looking at it. I thought, this could sort of get out of hand here. I thought, oh well, if it gets out of hand, I'll go on a TV show and show them that I'm not dead."

As president of The Slim Whitman Appreciation Society for 23 years I can tell you we did a massive letter writing campaign to The country Music Hall of Fame. They aren't interested in any one who won't bow down to the Nashville Machine.
